In 2012, Stephen David Entertainment ushered in a new TV genre, the “hybrid” docu-series, with The Men Who Built America (History), which went on to win two Primetime Emmy Awards with five total nominations.

SDE then repeated that success with The World Wars (History), which received three Primetime Emmy Award nominations, and featured President Barack Obama.
Since then, SDE has produced many other blockbuster hybrid docu-series, including two seasons of The Making of the Mob (AMC), American Genius (Nat Geo), The American West (AMC), the multi-season hit Roman Empire (Netflix), and Men Who Built America: Frontiersman (History), which garnered over 26 million viewers. Most recently, their series Wyatt Earp and the Cowboy War, narrated by Ed Harris, premiered on Netflix to critical acclaim and huge ratings.
SDE has also produced award-winning crime and social justice documentaries, including Sugartown for ID Films, Hell in the Heartland (HLN), and Jonestown Terror in the Jungle, which broke ratings records for Sundance/AMC.
The company’s scripted work includes James Patterson’s Murder is Forever (ID), Capsized (Discovery) starring Josh Duhamel, and the mini-series Sons of Liberty (History), starring Dean Norris and Ben Barnes, which premiered to record-setting ratings and critical acclaim, including a WGA award nomination.
